CBS The GreenTom Houlihan of Teagasc will show our 5th and 6th students where the STEM is in forestry.
A lot of Science and Research lies behind what you see when you look as a hillside of forestry e.g. thinning of trees, firebreaks, plantation health etc.
The Science, Technology and Engineering used from planting through to harvesting in Irish forestry will be demonstrated.
Tom will also be talking and demonstrating the Science behind the specific husbandry methods including management of nutrients, pest control that are employed to make a forestry and profitable (the Maths) and sustainable alternative use of land.
